Group Travel
Travel With Groups of 20 Passengers or More
Capitol Corridor welcomes groups as part of our Group Travel program. Schools, community groups, senior centers, alumni groups and service clubs are all discovering that we offer a fast, convenient way to travel in Northern California.
If you are traveling with a group of 20 or more, you are eligible for a group discount of 20% off the full fare ticket price. Due to space restrictions, groups of 20 or more traveling together must make an advance reservation with the Capitol Corridor Group Desk. Submit your reservation request at least 14 days in advance of your travel date via fax or through our convenient online form. (Teachers, please refer to our Train Treks for Kids program for your classroom field trip)
- Complete the Group Reservation Request Form
You may submit the form online OR fax to the Capitol Corridor Group Desk at 510.464.6901. If you submit the form online, there is no need to also fax the form.
You will receive a reservation number and confirmation letter either via fax or email within five business days. Please provide an alternate date on the Group Reservation Request Form in case your first choice is denied.
- Create a Passenger Name List
Along with your confirmation letter, you will be sent a Passenger Name List, which we ask that you complete and either fax or email back to us at least ten days prior to your trip. List the first and last names of all passengers traveling in your group. After submitting the Passenger Name List, adjustments to the names and number of passengers cannot be made.
You may either fax or or e-mail back to the group desk at (510) 464-6901 or groupdesk@capitolcorridor.org.
- Purchase Your Tickets
To purchase your tickets, bring your confirmation letter and a copy of your Passenger Name List to any staffed station, at least seven days prior to your date of travel. If you do not pick up your tickets seven days prior to your reserved trip, your trip will be cancelled. You will be required to pay for the seats you have reserved. No refunds are given after tickets are purchased.
Please pay with cash, a credit card or school/ business check made out to "Amtrak." Personal checks are not accepted.
Benefits of traveling via the Capitol Corridor
- Advance ticket purchases (for groups of 20 or more) allow your group to bypass ticket vending machines at the station, and move directly onto the train.
- Advice on northern California destinations in Sacramento, Vallejo, Emeryville, San Francisco, Oakland, Santa Clara and San Jose.
- Confirmed group seating in a comfortable setting.
Groups of less than 20 passengers
If you are traveling with a group of less than 20 passengers, you are not eligible for a group discount. Groups must contain 20 or more passenger to be eligible for the 20% discount.
The most cost-effective way to travel on Capitol Corridor with a group under 20 is to purchase a Ten-Ride (45-day) ticket. Five people taking a round-trip to the same destination can travel together on one ticket.
Groups that are traveling with less than 20 people need not make an advance reservation. Seating is first-come, first serve.
